Welcome to Houghton Lake Travel Park!

(989) 422-3931

We are a Good Sam Park.  That means… if you are a Good Sam member, you get 10% off daily camping rates, unless there is a special going on, such as Spring and Fall discounted rates.  We can sign you up to be a Good Sam member here at the park.  Check in the office!

As of today, Wednesday, May 20th, we are going to be closed to transient campers on Memorial Day weekend and until May 28th, and open ONLY to seasonal campers and full-time RVers.  This is per the Executive Order of Governor Whitmer.

We know that some Michigan counties have obtained permission to open from their Health Dept. and their Sheriff’s Office, who seem to think they have the authority to give the permission.   We checked with Roscommon County authorities, and they were not willing to give us permission, but advised us to obey the Executive Order.  Even though we don’t agree with the Governor’s decision, we have chosen to obey the Executive Order and not defy it.

We are in the process now of calling all transient campers to inform them.  All will be given the choice of having any deposit refunded, or credited toward future camping this year.  Also… we are not taking anyone off the computerized reservation program for Memorial Day weekend, just in case we receive last minute notice from the Governor that we can open.

We all need to be fully aware of the SOCIAL DISTANCING requirements, and must be willing to abide by them.  Thank you.

We are as anxious as anyone to fully open the campground, and will as soon as we can.

We are now taking reservations for 2020.  I’m sure the people are anxious to get out of the house, and getting a bit stir-crazy!  Call for a reservation.

**Full-time RVers (people whose camper IS their residence all year) may come to the campground now as usual.

**Seasonal campers MAY come up to the campground.  We have been in touch with the Governor’s office, and received this clarification.

**Water has now been turned on to the bathrooms, showers, laundry, and store, but we have to take special precautions and follow guidelines for the bathrooms to be used… the guidelines will be listed below shortly, and will be posted on the bathroom doors.  Please plan on bringing your own sanitizer with you when using the bathrooms.

**Water to individual campsites has now been turned on.

-Please knock on the door before entering the bathroom.  We are trying to limit the bathrooms to 2 people at a time, so you can social distance.

-You MUST wear a mask in the bathroom.  That is the law… enclosed public area.

-If you can, please bring your own sanitizing solution or wipes to the bathroom so you can wipe areas that you used, such as sinks, toilet tank handles, counters, door knobs, etc.  We will try to supply as much sanitizing material as we can, but we may run out, so bring some of your own.  :)

-Please be patient, patient, patient…. we are all in this together, doing our best to make things work!

When the campground is open for business, we intend to carefully clean and sanitize the bathrooms multiple extra times per day until the virus situation is over.

We ask for your patience as we all walk through this process together.  Lots of these issues are governmental and completely out of our control.  We look forward to seeing all of you as soon as we can!

We will update these announcements continuously until the situation is over.

Check our rates page for camping rates.
